my name is james urban, and i'm a producer at mlb network.
i grew up in west hartford, connecticut and graduated from hall high school. i attended fordham university in new york city. during college i worked at the school's radio station, wfuv.
my first job out of school was at espn as a production assistant. i learned from esteemed producers covering golf and college basketball. i also got to fulfill a childhood dream by cutting highlights for sportscenter and nfl primetime.
i was hired at mlb network prior to launch in 2009. HELPING to build the network from the ground up has been the most rewarding achievement of my career. i've contributed to studio shows like intentional talk and mlb central, as well as special events SUCH AS the mlb draft and all-mlb award show. IN 2015 MLB REACHED A DEAL TO TAKE OVER PRODUCTION AND OPERATIONS OF THE NHL NETWORK. SINCE THEN, WE HAVE BEen PRODUCING BOTH MLB AND NHL NETWORK FROM OUR SECAUCUS, NEW JERSEY FACILITY. I HAVE also WORKED WITH THIRD PARTY CLIENTS INCLUDING APPLE, YOUTUBE, AMAZON, THE BBCÂ AND SONY. CURRENTLY I WORK AS A producer DELIVERING GRAPHICS AND APPLICATIONS FOR USE ON BROADCAST AND STREAMING SHOWS. MY MAIN ROLE IS BALANCING creative, EDITORIAL, technical AND SALES INPUT TO DEVELOP INNOVATIVE AND DYNAMIC PRODUCTS. as a production team we have won eight emmy awards for our flagship show, mlb tonight.
MY WIFE AND I LIVE IN HOBOKEN, NEW JERSEY WITH OUR THREE CHILDREN.
